Web Design Frequently Asked Questions

Q: How long will it take for my website/application to be built?
A: This depends on what sort of time frame you have in mind, and the complexity of your website or application. If you have a deadline we will aim to complete the project by that date. Where delays are unavoidable, we will always strive to keep you informed.
Q: Do we have to have a meeting?
A: In most cases no; anything that needs to be discussed can be done either by phonecalls or in emails. This doesn’t mean we wouldn’t like to meet you. If you wish to have a meeting that is no problem. We can come to you or you can come us. Please be aware our offices are in Warwickshire and London so in some circumstances a meeting might not be justifiable.
Q: Will my site be search engine friendly?
A: Yes we design all of our sites with search engines in mind, please be aware search engine algorithms change all the time and we cannot guarantee that what makes a site search engine friendly now will be the same in 6 months time. However we do offer Search Engine Optimisation (SEO) services to help keep your website up to date with the latest search engines and increase organic traffic to your site. Q: Once my website is completed what services do you provide afterwards such as making changes to my site?
A: After we have completed your site we will keep in contact with you to check if there are any other services you require. We offer managed hosting packages (also know as maintenance packages) which include a certain amount of hours a month which we can spend on your site making changes if required, setting up any extra email accounts or anything else to do with your account.
Q: Do I have to host with you or can I host my website elsewhere?
A: Yes you can host your website elsewhere if you wish. However there are many benefits of having your hosting with us. Unlike most web designers we don’t sell off reseller space. All of our hosting is done in house; there is no middle man. If there was any problem with the hosting most designers would have to contact the provider of their hosting to fix issues. This increases time taken to fix the problem. Here at Sincordia if you have a problem (which is rare) you contact us directly we then fix the problem for you minimising any downtime you may have. We have a team dedicated to give you 24/7 support. Also being with one company and keeping things in one place makes things easy for you to manage. If there are any changes that need to be made on your site it is easier for us and for you as we already have access to your site and any issues can be ironed out quickly because we will know everything about the hosting conditions and how the site was built.
Q: Will you place adverts on my site?
A: No we will never put adverts on your site unless you specifically ask us to do so. However on the footer we will put a small “Designed by Sincordia”. Scroll to the bottom of this site for an example. This can be taken off if you wish.
Q: What is the best format to provide my images?
A: Preferably the images should be either  be in JPG, PNG, or GIF format. You can email us your images or you can put them on a disk and post them to us. Images sent to us should be moderate in size, bigger the better. We can always make an image smaller however making an image bigger will degrade the quality. If you have no images we can always help, we can find stock images or we can do photography work for you. Images taken on a normal digital camera should provide you with a photo with a large enough resolution for a good quality picture.
Q: Can I update my website myself?
A: If we have designed you a website that includes a content management system then all you will need to do is log into your admin area and make the changes you require. Some advanced parts of the site cannot be changed in the CMS, they need to be changed by us. If you require changes to these parts let us know and we can make these for you. However there is a charge of £45 an hour unless you have a managed hosting package which includes a set amount of hours of work on your site a month. This is the same for non CMS website changes.
Q: I have an existing website and it needs updating can you help?
A: Yes, we’d love to help. We can assess your website and give you a quote on updating it. In some cases it might be cheaper and better to develop a brand new site.
Q: I heard Sincordia outsource their development work out to India. Is this true?
A: No, absolutely not. Going back a few years ago their was a partnership over in India who helped contribute to some development and design work however since then many years have past and the company is under new ownership and things are done completely differently now. All our work is done in the UK by us.

Hosting Frequently Asked Questions

Q: What is the difference between Unmanaged and Managed Hosting?
A: Unmanaged Hosting is a hosting package managed by you, where you yourself create any email accounts you need, sub domains, redirections, databases or anything else you may need to do with your hosting package. Managed hosting means we can do all of these for you however still have a control panel if you wanted to do these yourself at some point. Also if you are one of our web design clients, included in the managed hosting package is the ability to ask us to make minor changes to your site such as changing text, adding a new page (in keeping with the same template) or uploading a new image or special offer on your site. Depending on which package you have the hours of work allowed varies. Please check our Managed Hosting section for the difference between packages.
Q: Do I need a Windows or Linux hosting package?
A: This all depends on how your site is coded and whether you need specific applications. If your site is simply a html based site then, a Linux server would be best for you. However if your site has been coded with ASP or ASP.NET or needs a Microsoft SQL database then a Windows based hosting package is what you will need. If your site is coded with PHP the a Linux package is ideal unless you have ASP coding along with PHP. PHP can be run on both our Linux and Windows servers.
Q: How long does it take to set up my account?
A: We aim to accept and set up your account within minutes of you ordering. However it can take up to 24 hours if the order requires manual intervention due to extra security and fraud checks.
Q: How long does it take for my domain name to be registered?
A: The domain name is order as soon as the order is accepted. However please be aware it can take up to 48 hours for it to become visible on the internet. If we require any more information from your regarding your domain registration such as a company number/charity number we will contact you.

Q: I need some support how can I get in contact with you?
A: You can log into your client area  and log a support ticket, you will get a support ticket number which you can quote on the phone if you ever need to contact us by phone. Or you can email us directly at support@sincordia.com. Email support is 24/7 365 days a year our phone support is open from 9-5:30 Monday to Friday.
Q: What is the difference between managed and unmanaged servers?
A: Unmanaged servers are completely controlled by your, we provide you with the server and install the operating system that you wish to use but it is down to you to keep everything up to date and the server secure to prevent hackings. With managed servers we keep them up to date for you and make sure they are secure so all you need to do is put your site/s on it and carry on as if you had normal hosting. With managed hosting we also back up your data so that in case anything goes wrong we can restore it for you. U
Q: Are your servers based in the UK?
A: Yes, all of our server are based in Maidenhead, UK.
Q: Is my site backed up?
A: Yes all our servers are backed up weekly. We store two copies of backups one for each week and one for the month in case you need to roll back further than a week. There is a charge however of £25+VAT each time you wish to restore from a backup unless you are on a managed hosting plan or the reason for loss of data was caused by us or hardware failure.

Q: Why should my company use digital marketing?
A: The internet is a massive place, with more and more people going online everyday. This gives you a massive base of potential customers. People use networking sites and search engines such as Google to find products or services that they need. Which is why digital marketing strategies such as SEO and Social Media Marketing are crucial.
Q: What do I have to do as a client?
A: We are not experts in every business so we will need some help from you so we can understand the sector your work so we can get the best results for you. This helps us to target the right audience and what can be done to entice them and make them your customers.
Q: Can you get my website to the top of Google?
A: We cannot guarantee anyone that they will be top of Google or any other search engine. We will try our hardest to get you number one but competition is fierce and depending on your budget and the budget of your competitors all factors in where you will place. Google and other search engines often change their algorithms and without the right guidance it can be hard to keep on top of; this is where we come in.
Q: How much does it cost?
A: Unfortunately there is no set price as it is such a bespoke services and varies from client to client. Please contact us if you require quote.

A: Campaigns can be ongoing or you can set certain start and end dates if you are specifically marketing a specific service or product.

Q: I need to pay an invoice how can I pay?
You can pay with, Debit/Credit Card, Paypal, Cheque or Bank Transfer. If paying by cheque or bank transfer please be aware any work or service won’t be started until we have received the cheque or until the funds clear in our account.

Q: Where can I view my invoices?
You can log into your account at https://www.sincordia.com/clientarea, once here you can log into your account and view your services/invoices/support tickets.
Q: I haven’t paid my invoice will you turn off my site?
A: No we won’t turn off your site without informing you first. We know how sometimes you can simply forget to pay your invoice or the email address on you account might be an old one so you aren’t receiving any notifications. We try our best to get in contact with your before we suspend any services
Q: I wish to query an invoice, what should I do?
A: If you believe there is a mistake on your invoice please contact us either by calling us on 01926 424900 or emailing accounts@sincordia.com
Q: I forgot to pay an invoice for my domain name and now it has gone into redemption what should I do?
A: If your domain name has gone into redemption there are two choices. You can wait on average 30 days after the domain has gone into Redemption and re-register the domain name (although this is risky as the domain goes into the public market and anyone can register it). The second option would be to redeem the domain. There is an extra charge for this however of £100
